What are the Secrets to Delegating Effectively?

Being able to delegate effectively is an important skill for leaders, managers, business owners and anyone who works and lives with others. The benefits of delegating effectively include reducing the stress of overwhelm by freeing up valuable time and providing opportunities for others to grow, develop, and experience a sense of pride and engagement for their successful contribution to a joint or team effort. Yet many of us either resist delegating or don’t delegate effectively. And why do we resist delegating? In addition to uncertainty about how to do it effectively, there are many reasons for not delegating such as ego, perfectionism, anxiety about mistakes, comfort level, fear of losing control, a lack of trust or confidence in others, fear of being upstaged or viewed as less valuable, and a false sense of efficiency.

When we examine our reasons for resisting delegating and clearly understand the self-imposed barriers we have to delegating, we can learn the key components of delegating and build our skills with willingness and practice.

Please join us for the roundtable discussion on March 31st to explore the topic of delegating more thoroughly and learn the secrets of delegating effectively. Share your wisdom and experience and learn from the wisdom and experience of others in an interactive format.

Please note: This is a “brown bag” event and it is recommended that participants bring their lunch to eat during the roundtable. We’ll also have beverages and popcorn or other snacks to share.

About the Roundtable: The Women’s Leadership Roundtable is a facilitated open forum for women, as leaders of themselves and others, to discuss relevant issues, build community and network, collaborate with, learn from, and support one another. It provides an opportunity for women to be heard, share their experiences, engage in thought-provoking discussion, and to generate ideas and growth together. The roundtable is an ongoing event, open to the public, held on the last Friday of every other month from January through September in a Denver area location. You are encouraged to attend as frequently as possible and bring your ideas, issues, and interests to the discussion. There is a $10 charge for the roundtable, paid in advance when registering online, and a $12 charge when paid at the door. For additional information, contact Karen McGee at 303-503-9681.
