Fund Manager! Masterclass
A Pan-African Platform for Unlocking Venture Capital Readines
Across Africa, general partners (GPs) face barriers to launching and scaling funds; limited partners
(LPs) are underexposed to the VC asset class and lack tested allocation frameworks; and asset
managers, regulators, and fund administrators often operate without a shared playbook or
coordinated approach to venture investing. The VC Masterclass provides a collaborative platform to
bridge these knowledge and execution gaps, fostering alignment and enabling strategic capital
deployment.
Mauritius is an ideal host: offering a sophisticated, internationally recognised legal and financial
infrastructure to support cross-border collaboration. It serves not as the focus, but as the launchpad
for unlocking venture capital readiness across the continent.
The VC Masterclass is a 3-day, hands-on, immersive experience designed to equip
participants with the skills and tools to build, lead, and invest in venture capital funds. It walks
participants through the full 10-15 year fund journey, from fund design and strategy, to
portfolio construction, value creation, and exits.
Previously delivered in Singapore, Dubai, North America, and Europe, and taught at IMD
(Switzerland) and LBS/NVP (United Kingdom), this masterclass now brings global standards
to the African context
Why This Matters Across Africa
• New GPs face barriers to fund formation; experienced GPs struggle to scale.
• Institutional allocators remain underexposed to VC due to limited tools and frameworks.
• Regulators lack tested governance models to support innovation capital.
• Asset and wealth managers have little experience integrating VC into client portfolios.
• Private investors operate with limited access and conviction.
• Fund administrators lack fluency in supporting cross-border VC operations.
Collaboration Through Common Understanding
This Masterclass is intentionally structured to bring all stakeholders into one room: GPs, LPs,
regulators, fund administrators, asset managers, and advisors. The goal: to foster alignment,
accelerate learning, and catalyse collaborative momentum across the African VC landscape
The Masterclass Solution
A high-impact, simulation-based programme that:
• Trains General Partners (GPs) to lead high-performing, globally credible funds
• Equips LPs and allocators with clear VC evaluation and portfolio strategies
• Enables asset managers to guide client exposure to global and African VC
• Prepares regulators to build innovation-aligned regulatory environments
• Empowers administrators to support fund operations at international standards
• Strengthens ecosystem collaboration and deepens exit literacy
